Building Babylon’s good without bending to its gods
April 7, 2016 @ 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm
Though many overstate just how bad things are in America, it sometimes can truly seem as though we are living in a modern-day Babylon. And as Catholics, it is easy for us to feel like outsiders in a nation that grows increasingly secular and hedonistic. How are the faithful to live in this “American Babylon”?
In this talk, Jason Adkins, the executive director of the Minnesota Catholic Conference, lays out a vision of prudent Catholic engagement with the broader culture. Drawing inspiration from the exiled Jews of the Old Testament, Adkins shares how the faithful can (and should) work to improve the temporal communities they belong to without compromising our faith and morals. In other words, how we can build Babylon’s good without bending to its gods.
