“As Catholics, we are obliged to defend the right to religious liberty for ourselves and for others.”
–USCCB committee statement, Tháng tư 12, 2012
In their April 12 statement “Đầu tiên của chúng tôi, Hầu hết các ấp ủ Liberty,” the American bishops remind us that “[t]he human person has a right to religious freedom. This freedom means that all men are to be immune from coercion on the part of individuals or of social groups and of any human power, in such wise that in matters religious no one is to be forced to act in a manner contrary to his own belief.”
What is the proper response when civic allegiance and duty to faith collide? This question and others on this critical issue will be explored.
