The Catholic Spirit: On primary election day, MCC’s elections resource guide available

As Minnesotans head to their polling places for primary election day Aug. 11, the Minnesota Catholic Conference (MCC) has developed an elections resource guide. 

“Faithful citizens must form their conscience with the right principles of Catholic social teaching to participate rightly in the public arena,” MCC wrote in the introduction to the guide at mncatholic.org/election2026. “But they also must inform themselves about the issues and where the candidates stand. Voting is only one part of faithful citizenship, but an important one as we continually work to transform our state.” 

In a recent installment of its “Inside the Capitol” column for The Catholic Spirit, MCC — which represents the public policy interests of the state’s Catholic bishops — reminded Catholics who plan to vote that “2026 is a big election year in Minnesota.”  

“Every U.S. House seat is up for election, as is one U.S. Senate seat,” MCC wrote. “At the state level, Minnesotans will also elect a new governor, and every seat in the Minnesota House and Senate is on the ballot.”

The guide includes sections highlighting “practical resources for voting” and “voting with a Catholic conscience,” among others.
