Acknowledging shared achievements while voicing concerns over positions on life and gender
*The following comments were developed in response to requests from several Catholic media outlets regarding the nomination of Gov. Tim Walz as the Democratic Vice-Presidential Candidate. The questions were similar across the outlets, asking for information regarding his positions on various priorities of Catholic social teaching and our office’s interaction with him. This is not an endorsement and is intended only as a concise description of the facts of our engagement with him, and not an evaluation of his positions or overall record.*

Catholics are called to be faithful citizens and to infuse public life with the values necessary to protect human dignity, combat injustice, and promote the common good. Because of this duty, it is necessary that we, your pastors, reflect with you on the state of our public life and the choices Minnesotans face as we go to the polls in a year in which all state legislative and executive officers are up for election.

State Fair Opinion Poll Results
Posted by Minnesota Catholic Conference · September 24, 2021 2:30 PM
Fairgoers favor enabling parents to choose the right school for their children
Thousands of people stopped by the House of Representatives booth at the State Fair and voiced their opinion on a dozen policy-related questions covering issues from mask mandates to school choice and much more. The questions were, in many cases, poorly worded by legislative officials who should have been in a better position to describe them appropriately. Either way, the exercise does show the limitations of polling.
