Defending religious liberty is the global Catholic Church’s principal public policy goal now and for the foreseeable future.  But what is religious liberty?  Why it is important for the well-being of persons and society?  How is it threatened today?  How will new legal cases and laws affect Christians’ ability to preach the Gospel, act in the public square, engage in charitable work, and perform the works of mercy?
