News Release: Statement of Minnesota Catholic Conference on Passage of Marriage Amendment
St. Paul, Minn. – The Minnesota Catholic Conference welcomed the passage this evening of SF 1308, which puts before the voters in November 2012 an amendment to the Minnesota Constitution that defines marriage as the union of one man and one woman.
“Today, the voters of Minnesota, like those in 30 other states, have been given the opportunity to have an important conversation about the future of marriage,” said Jason Adkins, executive director of the Minnesota Catholic Conference, who supported the amendment. “We look forward to a respectful and civil conversation among Minnesotans about why the amendment should be adopted.”
He continued: “We are grateful to the Legislature for putting this amendment on the ballot.”
